What is Luxury Vinyl Flooring?

Luxury vinyl is part of a broader category of flooring known as resilient floors. These floors have some “give” or elasticity when you walk across them. They’re often used in kitchens & baths because of their good looks, resistance to moisture & the wide variety of colors & textures in which they’re available. They’re also easy to keep clean, offering tremendous performance at a great value.

Vinyl is the most commonly available type of resilient flooring, available in sheet, tile, or plank form. Vinyl can realistically mimic the look & texture of natural stone, ceramic & hardwood floors, to the point where it’s difficult for most people to tell them apart from the real thing.

Best Rooms for Luxury Vinyl

Traditionally, vinyl flooring has been installed in kitchens, bathrooms & laundry rooms. However, thanks to innovations in design & performance, vinyl flooring is making its way into spaces where traditionally hardwood & other surfaces reigned. Cushioned & warm underfoot when compared to natural stone or ceramic tile, vinyl offers a practical, functional & fashionable option for living spaces throughout active households.

Vinyl’s versatility also comes from the wide range of styles available. Lighter tones work well to make smaller rooms feel spacious, while darker tones help to create cozy intimacy in larger rooms.
